Can someone help me with uploading animated gifs?

I'm using Photoshop CS5 Extended version 12.0.4 x64

i saved my sprite with save for web and devices. but when i uploaded it, it was static

You made one from scratch?

Did you use animation frame layers? They're not the same as regular Photoshop layers.

i'm not 100% sure about the layers

it's actually just a recolor, not from scratch

So the file (before the recolour) was animated to begin with?

In PS Extended, you should be able to open the original gif and have all the animation layers intact. Or you could try going to File -> Import -> Video Frames to Layers (and locate your filename.gif).

The animation layers are viewable by going to Window -> Animation.


I actually prefer creating a gif from scratch. You create Photoshop layers as usual (with the image moving slightly from layer to layer), then you go to Window -> Animation and select Make Frames From Layers. Much simpler and you don't have to worry about the PS version.

i have all of my animation layers and stuff

tried uploading but it's still static

never mind, i think i'm doing it right
it's that imageshack doesn't support animated gifs
