I like having the 'Recent topics created' side bar, but sometimes, titles mislead me. I was wondering if it would be able to show not only the topic title and Display name of the creator, but also in which area its posted.

That is not available as the forum software, IPB does not support it.

Sorry. I am not sure if there would be an option in the admin cp either.

Oh, yes, it would be easier to see, in case it's in a forum you don't use.

What you are asking for is provided by the board index already. If you scroll past each individual forum, the latest topic created/posted in will be listed on the right. With the day and the poster.
The sidebar is just a quick ref, not a full detailed list.

however, i'm more prone to use the 'view new content' as then I don't miss out on anything that has been posted.
