Gelert Ears Rope?

Hey!
Uh, are Snow Gelert ears made out of rope? It looks like it.
I'm drawing up _mike_fofo and I need to know.

Appears that way to me. Why the artists went with rope and not a branch like the tail, I don't know. XD
