So I'm basically wanting to make a Pokémon Game (Fakémon) whom some people might already know about.
Here are some requirements that it needs.
  • It needs to be free. I have no money. Well I do, but I'm not allowed to just buy things.
  • It needs to support pixel art/work. It's a Pokémon game. Pokémon uses pixel art.
  • It needs to be a good interface to work on/up-to-date. Think RPGMaker. But I can't use that. I have no money.
So I'm hoping that someone can help me in my dilemma/endeavour.

Like I said before, the place to discuss this kind of thing is The PokeCommunity. They have entire boards dedicated to this kind of thing, with people who know a lot more about it. :)

If you're set on making a fan game and not a rom hack, your best bet is probably RMXP, since there are already a ton of tools in place that make creating Pokemon games with it easy. GameMaker is a great, versatile program, I love it, but you would probably have to make the entire engine from scratch.

I'm not even sure on how to make a hack anyways. XD But like I've said, they really need to be free. I've done my research, and RMXP and GM cost money.

You're not required to register GameMaker. :)

My mother told me about a program she heard about, and downloaded it for me. It's called Unity. It's free, and, though I have yet to learn too much about it, it should work for any game you wish to make. Don't blame me if I'm wrong, though.

I've heard of Unity3D(I think it's that), but that's for games with 3D graphics like COD. Can Unity support pixel artwork and such.
