Who is your favorite character and why?

My favorite character probably would be President Alma Coin. Since she's in the 3rd book why is in the spoilers. If you read it, it. will. ruin. the. end. of. the. book.

Well, this will ruin a bunch of the 3rd book if you read this spoiler. I like her ways and how she wants to take over. I also liked her idea on killing Prim to get Katniss to snap.

I read all the books, and went to the Midnight showing. You know I found some things lacking in the movie. The book was quite better. Just call me Krawk.

1. The mutts didn't even resemble the dead tributes
2. The movie was widley based on that you read the book already. If you didn't read the book, you would have no idea what was going on.
3. Not enough gore.
4. Cameras moved around too much.
5. Too fast-paced
6. Madge didn't give the Mockingjay pin.
7. No Avoxes.

I'm in! Just call me Diana. I ordered all three books as well as the Mockingjay Pin, but I still have to read #2-3.

My favorite character is Peeta. I know the whole Team Gale/Peeta thing is so cliche, but I have to admit, I mostly like Peeta because Josh Hutcherson plays him and I have liked. Josh. Hutcherson. Ever. Since. I. Was. 8. Years. Old. So, after 6 years, I can only love Peeta. :kukuku:

I guess I like Rue, too, because despite her being the youngest, she seemed to be more wise and clever than most of the tributes. I think she could have even won the thing if the "odds were in here favor".

I've only read the first book, but I liked it. Plus, I know all the spoilers, so.

I got to see the movie the day after it came out. Luckily, my sister and I got really good seats.

My opinions as follow:

It was great. I liked the suspense and the tension. I felt very nervous watching it even though I knew what was going to happen, mostly because it seemed like you were there in a sense. The one thing I was thinking about was that I'm a fourteen year old girl, and if I lived in the Hunger Games universe... it could very well be ME there.

That aside, I had two major complaints.

1. That. Camera. Okay, so we need to avoid the R rating for the violent scenes by whipping the camera about so it's harder to look at. That's cool, I guess. It made things pretty hard to follow, but you need to do what you need to do for a PG-13 rating, I guess. My problem was when they shook the camera about when they were just talking. The scene in the beginning where they were choosing the tributes made me really dizzy.

2. Side characters. Okay, we got to know who Katniss and Peeta were. That's good. If you don't get to know who the main character is, then the film really falls apart. However, getting to know the side characters is important, too. I knew who Cato, Thresh, Rue, etc. were from the book, but I couldn't feel as connected to them in the movie because we didn't get enough details on them. Rue's age was briefly shown on the board. It would have been better to add a quick dialogue in of "Oh no, I feel bad for that girl. She's the same age as my sister," or something similar. Either that, or they could have shown clips of the other tributes being chosen and their thoughts on it so that you could get a better idea of who they were. Just showing how Cato volunteered or something similar would give you a better idea of who he is. It's small details like that that make you really know a character. I felt like Rue didn't get enough development or screen time for me to know who she is. Okay, I know who she is from the book, but would someone who only has seen the movie know who she is well? Oh, Foxface. She appeared... what, twice? And her name was mentioned once. At the end. Right before she died. Sigh.

Maybe that's why I didn't cry when she died. It was heartbreaking... I was really sad. But I didn't cry. Here's an interesting story: When it happened, everyone was bawling their eyes out in the theater. Everyone. That includes my older sister next to me. I felt like a heartless jerk, so I tried to make myself cry. When that didn't work, I pretended to. It was... a very awkward moment.
